Future of Electric Motorcycle in India

Ultra Motor India plans to launch three scooters, including one in the category of high speed, and import high-end models to India next year. "Electric vehicle category is becoming more and more important globally and will grow substantially in India also. Electrotherm India Ltd (Eil) has posted revenues of Rs.200 million in the period from July to September this year, compared to Rs.130 million in the previous quarter. During the quarter, the company reported 54 percent increase in sales of Yo-bikes. (Published by Thaindian.com on October 28, 2008)

BSA Motors, a Murugappa group company targeting the market share of approximately 18-20 percent by the end of this financial year (2009-10). The company plans to increase its dealer network from 30 present in the four southern states to about 100 within three months and subsequently increased to about 120 by the end of this fiscal.
